Nash was more like a weird genius in the text(Although in my opinion,genius is something of an eccentric)
However,in the movie,he had a fuller personality.
Text said"Nash mingled rather than mixed with peers",even at the begining,Nash admitted he "was born with only half a heart".But Nash was eager for friends.We can see it from the fictional character--prodigal roommate.We can't find Charles when Nash was surrounded by happiness,but Charles would show up timely when Nash got stuck.Nash wish to have a friend, who could understand him,support him,hug him,that was why Charles existed.
And Parcher,showed Nash wish to serve the motherland.Roommate'niece,one of Nash' friends,showed a longing for family.Maybe most people think Nash only had half a heart,but Nash himself wish to full this heart by achievement,friendship,kinship.
